Baby Camping Gear for Your Little Camper

Camping with a baby in tow is a bit different from camping with adults only. Babies have special needs and those needs must be provided for no matter where you are. While it may be challenging to camp with an infant, it's not impossible. The trick is making sure you pack the right baby camping gear. The first thing you should have is a safe enclosed area like camper or trailer. You'll also need an appropriate place for the baby to sleep such as a portable crib or bassinet. A tent isn't a good idea for a small baby, and shouldn't be used until your child is quite a bit older and sleeping in an adult-style bed.

Another piece of equipment you'll need is a backpack or sling so you can comfortably bring your baby along on nature walks. Make sure that your baby is dressed comfortably in climate appropriate clothing. Sunscreen designed for babies is a definite must to protect your little one's delicate skin from the sun. A shady hat is also a good idea to shield your baby's head from sunburn. Bring along a first aid kit in case of minor injury and a radio, cellular phone or walkie talkie to contact help in the event of an emergency situation.

Babies need to eat, of course. If you're breastfeeding, that issue can be taken care of easily enough. For babies that consume formula or baby food, you'll need to pack enough for the trip. Make sure you bring enough clean, filtered water to prepare your baby's meals. Stock your diaper bag with plenty of diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, outfits and toys to keep baby entertained. If your baby is teething, pack a teething ring for him or her to chew on. Teething babies also enjoy firm, crunchy snacks like Cheerios and Zwieback Toast. If your baby is old enough to drink fruit juice, pack that as well. You can find large bottles as well as small, serving-size bottles perfect for traveling.

The first time you pack your baby camping gear, you may feel overwhelmed. You might even forget a thing or two and realize it after you've reached your destination. Making a list before packing and looking it over carefully can prevent this from happening. After your first successful camping trip with your bundle of joy, you'll feel more comfortable and be more prepared for the next time you and your baby go on a camping trip.

I've heard mixed reviews about Dragonmart, but I might have a browse around anyway, since even the Carrefour camping equipment is China-made and is supposedly pretty good. I'm thinking I should probably buy the hiking boots in the Outlet Mall, .
